We all saw the split that happened in Nato. And yet, Ramsfeld saying that it wont effect the US preparation to war. Listen dont get me wrong, but somehow I think this will effect the USA after the war. And it will bring the USA atleast 15 years behind in terms of diplomacy. Not to mention the UN would be of no value.
The UN should be some sort of a government body, the controls the nation. But USA is making that very difficult. And it could effect them. In my opinion, the USA should take the time in getting as much alliance when going to war, god forbide. And maybe, the USA should admit, that the WAR is not so good of an Idea after all!

Now there are alot of Americans that do not agree that war is the best thing. We all agree that Saddam Hussein needs to go though. Now being on a political subject here the United Nations is a world diplomacy forum that the United States created for everyone to come together and work through problems and foster unity. They are not a governing body of America so they in effect have no say in our Nation does. They serve one purpose only to foster diplomacy. Now if there is indeed proof of wrong doing on Hussein part then he should step aside to avoid war.

America will never suffer a set back in diplomacy while we bankroll half the world. We have plenty of poor and sick and homeless in our own land yet we continue to give out billions of dollars to alot of countries in hopes of keeping diplomacy and democracy alive.
I think all of us in every nation need to stop talking war and find ways to accept each other and our differences. Remember America is a melting pot of nationalities and religions. We need to extend this philosophy to the entire world and everyone want peace for things like war to not happen.

Welcome Chuck <img src="/threads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />,
I see your point. But really my friend, dont you think something is not right here. HEre are the reason why I think the US should wait and consider before going into this war. Did they find proof of weapon of mass distruction?. They think they have, but did they actually see it?. Why cant the inspectors stay longer, I dont see any harm in that. At the end is peace we are all looking for

Don't get me wrong. Americans do not want war. However with the sophistocated intelligence and satellite photos etc they do indeed have concrete evidence. Colin Powell presented alot of information before the UN with mixed reviews. The UN inspectors indeed have found several questionable things in Iraq as well but have not come to a final decision yet. One must remember that Iraq in accordance with a Treaty to stop Desert Storm was to disarm and halt all production of warheads. Any breach of this Treaty would be in itself an act of war and not on the part of America but Iraq. Yes the UN inspectors should still continue there operations. Yes we all want peace.
However on the other side of the coin how long is long enough. We both know the minute Saddam Hussein kicks out the UN inspectors out like he has before that President Bush will have no option but to go to war. It is sad to think this will happen but we know in the end unless a miracle happens this whole situation is unavoidable.
I always say a picture is worth a thousand words and they have the proof they need. I though for one will say my prayers for peace and hope in the end this thing blows over and in the words of the immortal John Lennon hope Utopia becomes a reality and we all learn to get along on this tiny planet we call home. There are alot more important issues for everyone to focus on like world hunger and the economy than war.
