Renting videos/memberships

Which video shops do u go to for a membership so you cant rent DVDS and videos?
I use the one in al khuwair close by to city plaza and the chinese shop....

The MQ video store opposite Kargeen. It's close to home, has a great collection and they sell music too. Plus they have a loyalty program which gives you a free CD for every 10 you buy.

Doesnt the one next to Pizza hut at MQ have a similar loyalty program?

The CD store next to Pizza Hut has been closed for at least a year if not more.

Such a shame, I used to buy CD's from there, and I'd get free CD's from time to time.

I have tried many video/dvd rentel shops before but i must say the one <i>(copyco)</i> located in MQ near kargeen is the best.....they always have the latest movies dvd region 1(U.S version),plus now they offer a loyalty programme for dvds as well (buy 10 dvds and get one for free).

Oh, so it's you! I always wondered who it was who buys the DVDs from them at those prices. 15 rials for a dvd. Too much! No wonder they give you one free for every 10 you buy. Why don't you buy online and it'll cost you about 8 rials per DVD. Then you can buy 17 or 18 movies for the price you pay here for 10.

lol.... u got it all wrong muscati, i just bought my second dvd from there but i do share your curiosity, i myself would like to know who buys all those dvds from them.

They have reduced the DVD prices recently to 13 rials for new releases and 9.5 for the older ones. I am still waiting for them to cut the prices on the box sets, can you imagin that they are selling Band Of Brothers DVD set for 50 rials !!!

For renting, they are the best shop in town. But for buying their prices are insane. I bought the Band of Brothers box set from amazon.co.uk for about 30 rials including shipping. They were selling the Blue Planet dvd box for about 30 also while it was being sold at Carrefour for 5 rials. If you want to buy DVDs in Oman look around. You can always find good deals from time to time at Carrefour.

And beware of the DVD store in Qurum in the GBM building. That shop sells lots of high quality pirated movies. Some are so good they look almost like the real deal.

I used to buy at least 10 DVDs a month from amazon.com but since I got my Pioneer A05 DVD-Writer last month I stopped buying. Now I just rent the new releases and copy them to blank DVD which costs me less than 1 rial <img src="/threads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> plus by copying my own DVDs I can ensure that the quailty is 100% same as orginal. Unlike the pirated ones which are being sold in ruwi which most of the time are bad cinema prints. Still I am buying some DVDs which are banned here or if they are collector editions and box sets.
