Hi,
I’m going back to Oman in January (it’s so good!). My parents are visiting me in the first week of January. I have a few questions for you.
(1) Is it OK to rent a 4WD in Dubai and drive it to Oman and back again? Any problems at border?
(2) We’re thinking of flying to Dubai and staying there for one day to do a city tour before driving to Oman (hopefully!). Is there a city tour that covers the city? Is it worth flying to Dubai for one day (and then drive over to Oman the next day)? Can Dubai be done in a day?
(3) We’re planning to drive up Jabel Akdar and drive to Sur from Muscat. Is it busy in Oman in the first week of January?
(4) Hotels: Where is a cheap hotel in Dubai where we can stay? Car rental agencies that I can contact from Doha? Tour agency that I can contact from Doha?
(5) Where are cheap hotels in Muscat/Mutrah, Sur, and Jabel Akdar?
(6) Is there enough to see to drive from Muscat along the east coast towards Sur and sleep somewhere there overnight?
