in 3 months 100 ppl died cos of accidents...and main reason
is cos the cars are not that strong...you just hit raod lights
and your car is cancled while the light is 99% perfect
and other reasons you guys think you are the road masters and know how
to handle the roads..well think again most of the accidents are from
the age between 18 to 30 thats mean youth and thats you
if you are more carful you will spare your life and others
just keep on mind you dont wanna kill any one and yourself, like: when driving
and phone rang dont answer it unlese you got earphones or jsut stop the car
which i know most of you wont do it, if you are in the car and you are talking to someone
then try to concentrate on the road lil bit more than on the partner, if you got kids in the car make sure they are wearing seatbelts which i am sure that few ppl only do that,
HEY no kids in the front seat understan!, and if you are with someone who is really annoying
try not to pay any atention to that person the aim is not to get angry when you are
driving, dont ever remove your shoes or any foot wear cos i know some one removed
his footwear and then the shoe went under the breaks he didnt know that..suddenly he wanted to break.. bad for him that the shoe was under it and he couldnt break
he tried harder and pushed harder but nothing happen the car was still going and
at last the car hit the car which was in front of him.....anything can happen when you
are driving thats way you shloud be careful very careful cos if you are lucky the first time
then you might not be in the next time
its seems that i will never finish typing but at the end i wanna say that be care ful
on the road its a war you might win and you might lose
OOOOO one more thing you see a taxi stay away from them they have no attitude
they drive like carzy ppl ......BEWARE [/color]

I would say that the main reason for people dying as a result of a car crash is because there are many people sitting behind the wheel of a car, that shouldnt be sitting there in the first place.
Tooo many idiot drivers on the road who think its cool to speed! To many people who go out drinking on the weekends and then attempt to drive home while under the influence of alcohol. Too many youngsters driving around without a liscence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ofcourse if a car is strong it will reduce the chances of death...but the car is not to blame for the deat, it is the people who sit behind the wheel of a car when they shouldnt be therE!

WTF??

If cars were much stronger, more people would die. Cars are designed to crumple and absorb the energy of an impact.

Of course, just like War it makes sense to have the best weapon. You are free to go out there and buy a Ford Excursion if you so wish.

Do NOT make generalisations about people in the 18-30 region. Do not think you know how I drive.

Anyone talking on the phone while the vehicle is in motion is violating the Law. It's that simple.

And learn some punctuation... after that I find it hard to understand what you are writing...

matrex_girl

well its has been proven duh!! that ppl from 18 til30 are most the get with an accident

and man i dont care how you drive...i was just giving an advice that is if you notice..

and if i said talking on the phone while the vehicle is in motion is violating the Law then it would be stupid cos most of ppl dont follow the law....if i gave you a statment about the laws wont you be bored and not even finish it..but if i gave it to you in other way say like..and a real life expearence then you would think about it..

finally ..punctuation is not in my dictionary...and if you dont like what i write then dont read it simple as cake duh!!

How old ar you? "duh!" ? Are you actually old enough to drive?

Maybe I should like, talk to you in a way you would understand... You know what I'm sayin'? It's like this, like, most people just can't drive. Those that, like, totally suck at driving, are like, gonna totally kill themselves. That's why more of them happen when they are like, 18 to 30. Coz they are dead after that!

It's simple Darwin sweetie.

And I would much rather listen to a well structured arguement containing the actual LAW statement on the issue. If it supports the point you're trying to make - use it!

The problem is people don't know of the laws or don't follow them. I would gladly work for the ROP on Highway Patrol... those brown Ford Crown Victorias look like a lot of fun, and if I was working on commission it would have to be the easiest job in the world.

"It's like this, like, most people just can't drive. Those that, like, totally suck at driving"
ok road master be a cop and show me what you can do( if you can that is)

well if you havent figuer it out ...those how SUCK are the ones who are thinking that they are the road masters like some one i know....

I would gladly do the job if they let me. To this day I have not seen ONE white guy driving a highway patrol car in Oman.

Are you old enough to drive? Do you even have a drivers license?

While I think in the middle of all that you might have a few good points that to a few good drivers are extremely obvious, the problem is you come accross as a 10 year old...

Dabdoob_Al_Helwa
6th April 2003, 03:04 AM
Thats the problem here, they dont check tht much for drivers liscence. The other day I saw a girl driving a car and she looked no older than 16!!!!!!!!

People shouldnt rush into getting on the road and driving and passing their test...they should concentrate on becoming safe drivers for their benefit and the benefit of others on the road!

matrex_girl

yes they only lok at girls and give some blinks and big smile insted of doing their job.....what to do...they never saw female in the whole life..soo pethatic

DevilsAdvo
6th April 2003, 05:49 AM
Firstly I think you are thinking too much of yourselves, but secondly if I was on that Highway patrol, I don't care who you are. You break the law, I'm pulling you over. That's the way it shoul be.

If people didn't drive 1 inch off your bumper!

If people wore their seat belts

If people used child seats, and made the children sit down instead of standing on the central console

If people didn't squeeze 16 passengers into a car made for 5

If people used those funny looking sticks at the side of their steering wheels.....you know, the ones called indicators!!

Then, maybe the death rate would be lower

Dabdoob_Al_Helwa
6th April 2003, 08:35 PM
Exactly muscat!
Matrex if someone isnt paying attention to the road because they see some good looking person, then the police have the right to pull them over...because in a matter of seconds that person who wasnt paying attention could cause the death of other people on the road at that time!!!!

excuse me i was talking about the police them selves?

once i was coming back from a party with my mom ok i was wearing white( you know something called white) jacket and they were next to my side of the car they where smiling talking then laugh..few blinks from time to time..it was from al qurm to al hail ..un til the fort round about we turned but the continue there way...when i reached home i said: MOM YOU KNOW WHAT.....I WASNT WEARING MY SEAT BELTS!!

then i said see how responsible the police are????

i know i know that it was bad cos i didnt wear the belt i for got....but i was wearing white something can be seen in the dark and they didnt see it???
i cant say more about this??w aht do you think?

Dabdoob_Al_Helwa
7th April 2003, 02:46 AM
The obviously arent doing their job right! Maybe they honestly didnt notice????????? No one knows except them!

DevilsAdvo
7th April 2003, 03:00 AM
Ok Matrex, you are silly enough to ride in a car with no seatbelt on, and not realise even when there is a Police Car next to you, yet you have the nerve to come on here and tell us how to drive?

Maybe the police were motioning for you to put your belt on - maybe not... fact is, you seem proud of the fact that you didn't wear it and got away with it simply because you're a woman. With an attitude like that, the inevitable may not be a big loss.

Were you in the front or the back? I believe in the back it is not actually illegal to not wear a seatbelt... it's stupid - but that's the law.

Morbid you are right though... checking out chicks while driving is classed as "Driving without due care and attention." - you can be booked for that.

matrex_girl
7th April 2003, 03:07 AM
mannnni wasnt proud of it i was telling areal fact that they arent responsible..and secondly you have the nurd to talk like that...huh mutakaber and duh!!!!1 i was in the front( be reasonable in the back who would but belts)...it has nothing to do if iam a man or woman the point is that they arent good and loyal to their job Mr Reeves

DevilsAdvo
7th April 2003, 03:26 AM
God you just smacked yourself with your own stupidity!!!

The Police are NOT responsible for your idiocy. If they were, it would be law that a police official has to check the vehicle before you can pull away to ensure everyone is buckled up.

YOU have the responsibility to put on YOUR seatbelt. The Police shouldn't have to deal with petty stuff like this. You waste Police resources because of your stupidity.

Every time you get in a car, you put on your seatbelt. THAT simple! The Oman Law doesn't require a belt in the back seat but that is just retarded. YOU should be reasonable and realise that any unrestrained object in a collision becomes a projectile (That means like a rocket with no power). If you are in the back seat, your impact with the vehicle is greater! The vehicle has slowed more by the time your body comes in contact with it. Chances are you will hit either the dash or the seat infront of you... making you a murderer through your negligence.

If you survive, do you want to live with the knowledge that your stupidity or laziness killed your mother or father?

You also seem to have no logic. First you say it is because you were wearing white instead of the standard issue black, and that the male policement were smiling, laughing and flirting by blinking at you... Then you say it has nothing to do with you being a female?

I will have to agree with devil on this one
Everything he said is absolutely true! I mean if i was driving and i saw police, i would make sure i was at the right speed and wearing my seat belt etc because i wouldnt wanna get pulled over and looking like a fool for forgetting to put my seat belt on.

Matrex im not blaming you or calling u careless etc...dont get me wrong, im just trying to make a point that the police shouldnt have to correct you for ur mistakes...you should have realized to put the seat belt on as soon as you saw the police!

matrex_girl
7th April 2003, 05:15 AM
plz give me a break it happen once and devil makes like it happens every single day.....i mentioned the white shirt cos it shows beeter if you are wearing a belt or not.....

besides is int aginst the role not to wear a belt haa??

and why are killing me now...
ooo and one more thing for your info devil or keanu what ever..i was only 14 when this happen so nothing got to do with being a woman i was a GIRL...thafrenthacatashhh

and believe me when ever i see a police car is like seeing an oddnary car...like if i see a police are and then i have to check if everything is ok...mannnn you get nurveslike that and then you will really make a mistake.

DevilsAdvo
7th April 2003, 06:39 AM
So how old are you now?

If this was 14 and you are now old enough to drive, say 18, then the only example you can use to criticise the police today is an incident that happened 4 years ago? If that's the case, I'd say they are doing pretty good.

Doesn't matter if it happened just once. You only need just one crash to kill you.

Of course it is against the law not to wear a belt. So you admit to breaking the law and it's right here in writing. Don't let it happen again... who knows what the result would be.

To me seeing a police car isn't like any other car. They command the highest respect for the job they do, and I love checking out their vehicles when it is safe to do so...

the worst cars to drive are SUV vehicles because they have a very high risk of rolling over, possibly killing the passengers.

DevilsAdvo
10th April 2003, 09:11 AM
Don't be daft.

Any car has a risk of crashing if you drive it beyond it's limits. Jeeps are slower, but I'd like to see a stock Mustang follow a Jeep when the tarmac ends...

Different vehicles, different tasks, different compromises. Use your common sense.

Name and shame...

It would be a great idea to have a name and shame system whereby the ROP set up an answering machine to allow traffic users to report bad driving... so many accidents are caused by the incredible feats of driving lunacy that I have seen here in Oman. Having driven in Turkey (Istanbul) then I thought I was used to driving, however here I see a complete lack of understanding of road sense!

cheers!

Sapphire

"Name and shame..."

Good idea in theory but an answering machine service would be open to abuse. Anybody could call giving false id making accusations against anybody.

You can Name and shame by going into the nearest ROP station although time consuming, to say the least, if the driving you witnessed was bad it is worth it and they do take you seriously.

The easiest way to drive here is defensively - be aware - always expect the unexpected, cars pulling out, opening doors as you are passing, women stepping into the road and expecting the traffic to hault, lack of indicating, last minute lane changing for getting off at sliproads, tailgaiting, driving with one hand on the wheel and the other wrapped round the back of the passenger seat (mainly indians - sorry but you do).

I was taught mirrors, signal, manouvre but here the motto seems to be manouvre, signal (optional-does this stick actually do anything) mirror (who's that honking their horn-what's his problem?)

I will add however, before I get verbally abused that I am not generalising and those of you who are good drivers DOO stand out.

DevilsAdvo
13th April 2003, 12:29 AM
Sapphire - did you know the indicators are optional here? They're just dead weight in 90% of the cars

In France, when people are killed in a road accident, they put black sillouettes of how ever many people are killed at that spot. It's a bit creepy, but it does make you think about it.

If they did that here, you wouldn't see the side of the road from here to the Dubai border!!

matrex_girl
18th April 2003, 07:53 AM
it is creepy...few days ago an accident happened cos a man wanted to turn left but insted he switched on the right indecator and banged to other car and turned out of the road...this happen before the rain season..and near qurm round about there was a pickup stuck up the cement wall...god knows how it went up there..the pickup couldnt be removed until 4 in the afternoon cos it was wednesday and the roads where very busy..

Maybe if they payed the police alittle bit more money, then they would pay attention to the people who brake the rules!!! don't you think? I break the rules all the time, ispeed among other things...but i dont now because i learned my lesson. But i could be racing down the street going 220KHM by a police car, he would stop me and it would turn out to be a friend of mine or something, they will just let me go! it was as simple as that. Thats called CORRUPTION. maybe if the police got more money that 100 riyals a month, they would TRY to do their job!

matrex_girl
26th April 2003, 12:45 AM
i dont think that money solves any thing its the opposite it increases the problem...

Dabdoob_Al_Helwa
26th April 2003, 12:53 AM
The police dont do their jobs properly...well thats because they are too leniant. I mean even if the police man was my friend and i got stopped for speeding, I should still take full responsibility for my stupidity, and hence take the speeding ticket. I mean i could have taken the life of someoen else on the road because it felt good to speed at over 200km/hr!
Also, people dont bother using indicators here as was mentioned before, especially trucks and those taxi buses and cars. Im learning how to drive and really hate the idea of going to ruwi where all the taxis park...because most of the time they dont indicate and so u dont know when they are gonna pull out!

matrex_girl
27th April 2003, 02:52 AM
speaking about taxis mom get really nerves when a taxi is driving near her...cos she knows that they are horrible in driving and as you said they dont use indecaters...and when any accident happens betweena person and a taxi then you should be surprized where they reach with their lies..a taxi once hit my mom's friends at the round about and you know what he said: Sir she put her car in reverce mode the police laughed at him for his stupidity....no one goes reverce in a round about as for the woman she was shocked at first but then laughed.....what a lier
