France, Germany and Russia are standing against the US and Britan in their drive against war with Iraq.
Do you feel that the current Iraq offensive is unacceptable since the UN has not approved the same.
Do you think that unanimous UN approval is required ? Would such an approval mean that it is okay to move against Iraq ?

The US and whichever countries will support it should move on Iraq and then face the consequences if they can't show the WMD, invoices, plans, etc that prove that Saddam has been up to no good.
Whatever happens is part of God's plan.

I am surprised that the Europeans suddenly want UN approval.
For the Kosovo involvment, they did not seem to care and neither did they ask for it.
was it because - (a)kosovo was near europe (b) their hatred for Milo is greater than Saddam (c)they needed a closure for Kosovo to mask the inadequacies of their own involvment?

France has a hidden agenda: it wants to flex its muscles while it still has some.

Actually I wanted someone from the other side of the argument to answer.
Where are all the Saddam supporters when we need them ?

near Lake Cuomo. I'm waiting to get some research equipment across inside the Italian side so I need some stamps from customs.
Standing there are a bunch of folks looking very scared. Some women are covered with rather beautiful scarves. At this point I am quite 'inexperienced' so the cover is nearly meaningless to me.
The Italians are upset that these people even made it into Italy. I hear the word Trieste shouted a lot. Women start to cry.
My turn. Being a nosy 'yanqui' I ask about it. Immigration guy explains they are muslims from Bosnia-Hercegovina and they don't want any damn refugees. This is my first experience with this kind of thing, and I'm thinking ..'hey america is just BUNCH of refugees, but this is your country here'. He says they'll send them to the Swiss since they made it that far, but if the Swiss won't take them it's back to Yugosalvia.
A lot of weeping there. I go thru to the Swiss side. 20 minutes later I see the same bunch in Swiss customs. This time a bunch of Swiss Army types (6+ feet all and armed) are around the crowd. No shouting from Swiss immigration.
They are sent back.
Anecdotal conclusion?
Europeans DIDN'T WANT ANY DAMN REFUGEES.
Just an anecdote, but I was at 2 borders.

It should be remembered that the U.N.'s Security Council never approved the U.S.-led coalition that intervened in Kosovo either ? Russia exercised its veto ? so NATO, with America at the forefront, took up the burden of rescuing Muslim Kosovars driven from their homes.
So what is this double standard appearing here ? It's OK to act unilaterally when Muslims needed to be saved from the Serbs but not OK when Muslims need to be saved from one of their own ?
How come France and Germany didn't cry about UN approval at that time ? Does it have anything to do with fact that Iraq currently owes France some $5 billion, money the French can kiss goodbye if Saddam's regime falls ?
