The other day at work during the coffee break, this two guys were debating whether oral sex between married couples is allowed in Islam or not. The first guy was saying that it's ok for a wife to give her husband some oral pleasure only if she has her monthly period or during the period after giving birth, this other guy was saying no matter what it's haram and it's not allowed. The debate went on and on for almost an hour but neither of them convinced me with his point, so I thought let me bring this topic to the forum and see what the pro has to say about it. So here is the question:
Is oral sex between married couples allowed in Islam or not ?

I have found this fatwa on oral sex at zawaj.com :
Fatwa on Oral Sex By Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
Praise be to Allah!
It is permissible for the husband to enjoy/savor/relish his wife however he wishes, and to come to her in the genital area from any point he wishes. As Allah (Exalted is He) has said:
“Your wives are a tillage for you [to cultivate] [nisa’u-kum harthun l-kum]
so go to your tillage as you wish. [fa-’’tu hartha-kum anna shi’tum] Q 2:223.
It is unlawful for the man to perform two sexual acts on the wife, namely:
1. Sexual penetration [wat’] during menstruation[haid].
As Allah (Exalted is He) has said:
They question you concerning menstruation. [wa yas aluna-ka ‘ani ‘l-mahid:]
Say: It is an illness, [qul huwa adhan]
So let women alone at such times [fa-’’tazilu ‘n-nisa’a fi ‘l-mahidi]
and do not approach them until they are cleansed [wa la tagrubu-hunna hatta yathurn:]
And when they have purified themselves, [fa-idha tatahharna fa’’tu-hunna]
then go into them as Allah has enjoined on you. [min haithu amara-kumu ‘llah:]
Truly Allah loves those who repent, [inna ‘llaha yuhibbu ‘t-tawwabina]
and He loves those who keep themselves clean. wa yuhibbu ‘l-mutatahhirin.] Q 2:222.
2. Sexual penetration in the anus.
Allah’s messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) has said:
"Accursed is he who has sex with his wife in her anus." (Reported by Abu Dawud and Imam Ahmad [ibn Hanbal], and established as authentic in Sahih al-Jami’ 5889.)
These two prohibitions are mentioned together in the saying [hadith] of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace):
"Beware of the anus and the menstrual period." (Reported by Imam Ahmad [ibn Hanbal] and Abu Dawud; also in Sahih al-Jami’ 1141.)
As for the question of oral titillation of the pudendum, it all depends on two considerations:
1. It must not be hurtful.
2. It must not result in the introduction of impurity/dirt into the internal organs.
This [is what I have to say on the subject]. Allah knows best. May Allah bless our Prophet Muhammad.

this opens the question of can Sex be only for pleasure and not reproduction.
anyways regarding Oral sex.
Robert DeNiro put it nicely when he was asked wbout it in the movie Analyse this:
he said " thats the mouth that kisses my kids good nite" regarding why he wouldnt want his wife to give him the oral pleasure.
you are talking about 69 in this case u r suggesting pleasure for both of them. fair enough but then isnt their an issue of hygine?
then you talked about women during their period.
now the man is being selfish and usually female hormones during the period makes sex less deseriable for her.
I find that humliating to the female.
unless the female likes to humliate her self. or she is too loving.

I am talking about 69 given that both couples maintain a high hygiene.
As far as I know a women period can go up to a week, which some men feel its a too long period to go around with a loaded gun . They have to clear the pipes to keep their mind focused in order to make the rights decisions; you know men are usually the decisions makers. I know a man can go down on his women even if doesn't feel like it but its his duty to satisfy his women and that’s goes vice versa, and isn't marriage is all about sacrifices!

According to a question asked to Sheekh khalfan in the grand mosque couple of month ago regarding this matter, he said that 2 things are forbidden in sex from the Islamic point of view.
One of them is to put the mouth where the dirt urine might come out, or the blood Period. I cant recall the hadeath about it but he surly made it clear it was forbidden, the other matter is to get your wife from the back, you know what I mean!

Is oral sex between married couples allowed in Islam or not?
I heard Sheikh Wajdi (the one who manages Al-Majd TV channel) in a Channel 2 Saudi English TV program that oral sex is allowed in Islam. Also there was a panel of Muslim Sheikhs who were Egyptians answering viewers questions in a TV program and one viewer asked if oral sex is allowed in Islam and one of the sheikhs replied that there is nothing in the Quran or Sunnah that forbids it and therefore it all depends on the couples preferences and taste. Please note that both Sheikh Wajdi and the Egyptian Sheikh who replied the to the question were Sunnis.
I also know Sheikh Khalfan Izri and I sometimes go to his lectures on Sundays in the grand mosque, I respect him very much, however with regards to oral sex, I would conclude that scholars do differ in there fatwas and different scholars have different opinions regarding this matter.

If Sheekh Khalfan had not referred to a hadeath while giving the answer to an Oral sex question I would not have approved it my self but the thing is I dont recall the hadthat but the interpretation of the meaning is what I started above.

I didn't say whether I approved oral sex or not, I only said what I heard exactly from the TV religious programs, so I concluded that there is a difference of opinion between the Muslim scholars.
