Are you single or do you have a family? Are you coming along or brining them along? If you're single, are you willing to share accommodation? Where will you work, what will you do for transport, do you have to get a flat close to your work or will your workplace arrange your transport?
You need to give details of all the above before anyone here can answer your question.

I just don't understand this. There's a perfectly legible thread running on the cost of living here in Oman, and yet people post new threads about 'how much will I save?' C'mon guys, just browse through the forum before you post a thread. Its far more easier and helpful. Sorry if its seems patronising, but I get very cross.

It's possible to live on your salary here, but you will not save much if anything at all. I'd ask for an increase in the basic from 550 to at least 700.

Sorry for being harsh ..but..
Im fedup of people asking .. ohh. my salary is so and so ..will i save? I find this totaly unprofessional and cheap. Come on folk, come to Oman, and take in the experience. Its culture, its history, its beauty, its people. Further more you will be able to gain work experience in a foreign country, which im sure will look great on your CV. If your too afraid to bring your family, leave them back for 2 years (avg contract duration). I know its hard, but just be a man.

Great advice.
