Licensure medical examination for Doctors for newcomers!

Hey Everybody,

Unlikely, I am posting a bit irrelevent stuff here. I am coming to Oman in coming weeks and I have to appear in licensure medical examination for Doctors.

I need some guideline or suggestion regarding Exam. Anyone of you who is physician or knows about it can help me out? This favor would really mean to me.

Hi Doc,
Welcome to Oman.
Doc, the exams are of 2 parts
First part is written exams conducted on 1 st sunday of every month,the question paper differs for an GP and Specalist,and dental
results will be announced on the following saturday
Once we clear the written
we need to sit in for Viva voce on the following day
The date and timing will be intimated by the MOH while taking up written exams
THe sylabus is of biritish std
pls refer oxford handbooks for your preprations

the exams are conducted by MOH Oman

Though I had both written and viva same day, back home. But in Oman, it is separated (as told above).
You can also get some details from MoH. Book I think if you are in a specialty, offcourse whatever is your textbook. Dunno about GPs though, but, OHCM and your clinical practical knowledge should suffice.

Hi.. its very irritating that there is not much related material available about MOH Oman Exam,,, many books claim to be a perfect guide for this exam but frankly speaking they can only be used as a reference guide. The exam is like PLAB, But they may change their pattern or exam style you never know. Let me share some resources which i have experienced;
1) Oxford handbook (good for many licensing exams)
2) Interface Medical Education MCQs Qbank - They have some hundreds of related MCQs to practice for. One good thing which i liked most is the ability to have Brain-dumps of actual test takers which really give an insight for this exam. hi.. I am planning to take the licensure exam for dentists here in Oman. Is there anybody in the forum who is kind enough to let me know how the exam goes (e.g., number of questions, type of exams, preparations to be done, best books to read/ and where to buy it, etc.)... will really appreciate your help. I am a newcomer in oman and would like to have someone who can share me these infos. Thanks a lot...

Hi there dk001 , Im not a dentist but one of my friends who recently gave the exam told me the following things.There are both MCQs as well as long questions for written.For his exam they also showed some slides (xrays etc) and asked questions based on them, but seems some of his other friends who wrote earlier didnt get these type of q. N then there is the viva. He read only oxford handbook.If you have enough time on your hands why dont you go to one of the private hospitals n meet the dentist there n ask? That will be best. Good luck with ur exam anyways.

many dentist gp's have failed
not easy to pass first time i think
