INDIANS SUCK <- This is how some (let's not say MOST) think of Indians.



Let's be honest, there are many who complains about how an "Indian stinks", how many "Indian is a looser", how an "Indian is cheap", "How they steal our position for cheaper salary", "Ruwi is full of them". When will some people admit the fact, that an Indian is human being, not an object which can be trashed anytime or modified.



I know some people whom whenever you say "Indian", they say "F* Indians", "They suck", and etc.. I mean, why would we do that? It does not mean this person works more harder and cheap labor then he is any less than us.



Some will jump and say, "Indians are double faced, they are nice infront of you, kiss your feet, then behind your back would screw you and spit on you". Alrite then, I have a question for you, what's the population of that country? Somewhere above one billion! Will have more population than China in around 30~50 years time, if theys till grow that way. Which is above 500 times than Omanies!



Guys, some of us need to admit the fact, that there are some good indians and some bad ones. <b>The main point behind this topic, is not to generalise a whole nation just from few bad experiences you've had with this guy or that guy.</b>



PS/ I don't deny the fact that I was racist towards Indians, not until I left Oman.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak Ramaprasad Bismil

"Swaraj is our brithright" thundered Tilak, the Lion of India. He founded schools and published newspapers all for his motherland. He wore him- self out till his last breath, to awaken his countrymen. A Brave revolutionary who up his life smilingly for the sake of the Motherland. He was hunted by the police and betrayed by fellow workers. He was the brave leader of Kakori Rail Dacoity Episode.

Bhagath Singh Khudiram Bose

He is the symbol of the heroism of the youth of India. A revolutionary. He threw a bomb when the Legislature was in session, to warn the British Government. He was put to death but lives in the hearts of his countrymen.



It was this hero who threw te first bomb on the Bristish who were crushing India. The boy of sixteen defied the police. At the age of nineteen,hebecame a martyr, wiht the holy book the Bhagavadgita ( The Divine Song) in his hand and with the slogan ' Vande Mataram' on his lips.

Tatia Tope Ashfaqulla Khan

A hero of the fight for freedom in 1857. His very name made the mighty English generals tremble. Deceived by his friend, he faced death like a hero, for the sake of his country. The pathan patriot who kissed the hangman's noose wiht the name of Allah on his lips. A youth endowed with a body of iron and will of steel, he dedicated everything to the service of India and of freedom and challenged the cunning and the strength of an empire.

Madame Cama

The fiery patriot who first unfurled India's flag at an international assembly. She turned away from a life of luxury and lived an exile - to serve her country. And the mighty British Government grew afraid of her.



GREAT KINGS QUEENS







Vikramaditya Harischandra



An Ideal king who was as wise as he was brave and strong. Matchless in War and matchless in forgiveness, an excellent ruler, he won the hearts of his people. With his vow to remain truthful at all times, Harischandra successfully faced the rigorous challenge posed by Vishwamitra. Though a king, he sacrificed everything including his kingdom and even his wife.

Yudhishtira Ashoka



The eldest of the Pandava brothers, the heroes of the great epic, the Mahabharatha. Yudhishtira lived for justice, and patiently suffered humiliation and exile. The Wheel which adorns the flag of free India has kept his memory green. Lord of a vast empire, after a great victory sick of violence and took an oath never to fight again.He was an Ideal ruler.

Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Keladi Chennamma

The great heroine of the First War of Indian Freedom. She lived for only twenty-two years. Jhansi, of which she was the queen, was in grip of cruel British. she was a queen of small state but the empress of limitless empire of glory. She ruled over a small state, Keladi for twentyfive years (1671-1696). but proved herself a great and heroic queen. She protected the kingdom when her husband failed his duty. And she faced the wrath of the mighty Aurangazeb, and gave shelter to Rajaram, Shivaji's son.



Shivaji Kharavela

The hero who escaped from the prison of the Mughal Emperor himself, to become the ruler of a kingdom devoted to Dharma and service of the people.He was one of the wisest rulers as he was one of the greatest generals. A Great king of Kalinga who ruled twenty-one centures ago. Coming to the throne when the state was in distress,he brought confidence and self-respect to the people. And he refused to join hands with a Foreign army against an Indian Prince.



Dileepa Hakka-Bukka

An illustrions king of the solar dynasty. an ancestor of Sri Rama. Though renowned for his valour. Dileepa tended the celestial cow Nandini like a cowherd. In an ultimate act of piety, he offered himself as food to a lion to protect Nandini and thus proved his worthiness in a test posed by Nandini. Hakka was the first ruler of the famous kindom of VIjayanagar, and Bukka his brother, the second ruler. They opposed the mighty Sultan of Delhi and brought unity and freedom to south India. They were great not only as warriors but also as rulers.

As Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, he guided research of the greatest improtance to the country. A born scientist and a beloved teacher.

Homi Bhabha

The architect of Nuclear Science in Modern India. He was a painterand worshipped the beauty of Nature.Science and art both enriched his mind an life. He was the ideal personality India needs today The great biologist who showed that plants, too can 'feel' in their own way. He saved money ;he bought a small laboratory and build his equipment; and scientists in Euorpe and America wondered at his discoveries.

Sathyendranath Bose

A renowned Indian scientist. He developed a new branch of physics. He worked with Albert Einstein, Madame Curie and other scientists of world renown. Devotee of PandurangaVittala. Though suffering hardships from a cruel mother-in-law and a foolish husband, she bore it and reposed pure 'Bhakti' (devotion) in Lord vittala who, for her sake, served her people. One of the greatest devotees of Lord Krishna. The daughter of a prince and the daughter- in-law of a prince, she gave up every thing and faced per- secution. Her songs live on the lips of people to this day

Prahlada Dhruva

A lad who faced the anger of his mighty father for the sake of his faith in God. Poison, sword and fire could not frighten him. And the Lord Himself responded to the devotion of the five-year old boy and came to the earth. He was a little boy of five years when he was insulted by his step-mother and ignored by his father. With determination and devotion, he succeeded.To this day the Pole Star reminds Indians of this great devotee of God.



Ambareesha Andal

Ambareesha,a great devotee. saved Durvaasa from the wrath of Sudarshana Chakra, the weapon of Lord Vishnu. The name of Ambareesha is associated with the Ekaadashi vow i.e, fornightly observance of fast coupled with meditation on the supreme. The Girl who would marrry no one but God. She lived a life of innocence, purity and toatl dedication to her God and was finally united with Him.









Vibheeshana Hanumantha

Devotee of Sri Rama and younger brother of the Valiant Ravana, king of Lanka. He had great affection and respect for his elder brother .He went away from Lanka, surrendered himself to the virtuous Sri Rama and helped him in the battle against Ravana. There is no village or town in India wihtou a temple ded- icated to Hanumantha. An unforgettable character in the great epic,the Ramayana, he has become the symbol of courage, loyalty and mature wisdom.

Bali

Grandson of Prahlada, devotee of Vishnu. Though a king of Rakshasas, he ruled with righteousness and welfare of the subjects at heart. Having agreed to give in charity threepaced of land to Vishnu , who came in the form of a young 'Vatu' (bachelor- boy) to beg for charity, Bali kept his promise by offering his head on which Vishnu could put his third step. Hindus believe that Bali is immortal.

I see no reason for emotions to run high since every country has a bunch of racists.
Indians definitely have contributed to the development of Oman as they have to the rest of the Gulf Arab states.
However, one must understand what's going on in the minds of the locals when they're trashing a particular nationality. One reason is the locals resent Indians holding high positions in their country (this would come from qualified omanis or those that have had no luck in landing a job). One must be sympathetic to their feelings. Can u imagine their sense of frustration at not being able to find a job in their own country, whereas the number of Indians (seemingly) keeps increasing??
Another reason for hatred is that they have taken these people for granted as they work all kinds of menial jobs.
Your opinion would again vary depending on where you are in the social strata of Omani sociey. If u work in offices with Indians as your collegaues or bosses, you'll have more respect for them.

I have a lot of respect for Indians. They work hard. They have contributed in building our beautiful country. Many of them who come to the Gulf are nice in the beginning. But as time pass, they learn from their colleagues on how to suppress Omanis. Be careful in organisation which is dominated by Indians, especially South Indians. I have been a victim of Indian Mafia. I was frustrated and left my job. I work with an Omani boss who has had experience of being frustrated by them.

Back to the topic, ITs a miss conception over here that we treat indians differently. To me only those who are not open minded do that, and mostly youngsteres (Teenagers). Okay, I feel bad for the Indians only for the simple fact that ever since we discovered them and there tps n *stuff* we have hated them and we wanted them gone. Remember the French and Indian War? We helped the french and we almost made the Indain race istinct. Back in the day when I used to like the Cleveland Indians...I heard the Indians didn't like that we used Indians as a sports name. Well... infact... I agree on *some* of the issues mentioned by Don about *some* Indians... on the other hand, I don't really blame some of the people who generalize about their opinions about indians.... most probably they've come accross some facts that made them say so... well, of course its impossible that they've seen all the indian nation, and therfore conclude like that... but, I think a certain percentage of the nations behaviour made them get that impression....

If I may say few things about Indians is;



Majority of the Indians that I have come across are very good people if they know they need you to accomplish some of what they want to do, but again the same people can be very difficult if you need them!



Many of you mentioned that Oman won't be what is today if it was not for Indians, well, I tend to disagree to some extent...yes; they played a major role in constructing our nation..I mean constructing i.e. building houses etc....but we had many choices i.e. we could have brought people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Philippines or even Thailand to do merely construction work, simply that is what the Indians did in our Country. Have they been paid for what they were doing?? I guess yes otherwise it is not easy for an Indian to live a single rial behind!



What does development of a Country really means in your views?? Is it simply Construction?



In my view there is a lot behind the scene that develops a Country!! Has any Indian played a role in our political constitutions? Where were the Omanis then?



Indians came to Oman like any other nationality that are in Oman simply to work and contribute towards building the Country but we had plenty of choices either to bring in any nationality from the 3rd World Countries to come and do some construction work! History can't be changed, It happened to be Indians who were brought to Oman.



Why are we discrediting Omanis themselves who have strived to develop this Country and spend their few rials in their own beloved Country whereas any expatriate would obviously send his fortune to his homeland?



Omanis economy lies mostly in oil where most of the management are Omanis (decision making!) and have done a wonderful job to develop this Country and NOT Indians!



Most of our Ministry are run by Omanis themselves and are doing a rather good job towards developing their nation!



Look at commercial Banks at the moment?? Most of the staff are Omanis and contributing a hell of hard work to develop their Country!



Most of the Indians are in Private Sectors where most of these Companies are individual owned and profit oriented organisation where Indians are doing a fantastic job to mint money and sending home!! Give me some % of Omanis who work in these Companies?? Very few indeed!!! Why is that?? Have they been given a chance to grow??? Answer yourself these unanswered questions for many years!!! Is there any scientific method done by these organisations to transfer the knowledge to Omanis??



I am not a racist person and would not like to sound one, but where Indians have put their grips it is almost impossible for them to remember that they are here to work for a certain number of years and transfer the knowledge to the Omanis and say a word of thanks to the Omanis who have made their stay as comfortable as it can be!



Let's face it...Is there any Country in the World that the locals are not given priority for employment?? Why Oman should be a big deal or different??



Omanis are the friendliest people on earth and very accommodating, and you will be very wrong to underestimate them.



Very few Indians that understand that they are here to work and develop Omanis and this could be a high-level management dilemma where they did not put strict Omanisation rules to be applied!!



Majority of Indians not all can be very nice people and down to earth, but for their fast few months in Oman and becomes very stubborn thereafter, hence the Omanis are now becoming more aware of their hidden agenda! If at all, Indians can teach one or two tricks to the Italian Mafia!!



This is just my own experience with Indians and what I have come across in so many organisations in Oman. This could be a mistake done WITHIN and we can't put the blame on Indians, but at least they should be considerate!

Go to India and see what treatment you will receive compare to the treatment they get here! I had my okayed ticket to come back to Oman with Air India and believe me I was unable to fly and guess what was the reason???? My seat was given to someone else "first come first serve" What is the point of an okayed ticket plus confirmation at the Hotel desk 24 hours before flying time??? After putting a nice show, I was told that someone has paid $100/- behind the scene to get my seat!!!!

That is beside the point, but majority of Indian can be very good people if only they get something in return! (Pure Maslah).
