Bush returns from secret Iraq visit

Nov. 28 — President Bush returned to the United States early on Friday after a secret, morale-boosting trip to Baghdad for Thanksgiving dinner with U.S. troops amid mounting casualties and political pressure at home. .....

“We did not charge hundreds of miles through the heart of Iraq, pay a bitter cost of casualties, defeat a ruthless dictator and liberate 25 million people only to retreat before a band of thugs and assassins,” he said to a standing ovation.

Why the secrecy if his intentions are honorable?

SisterRosenberg
29th November 2003, 06:59 AM
k7yla,
I'm being serious. As for my avatar, I don't really know who or what she is. I found it at another site and just thought it was strange enough that I had to use it.

And by the way, welcome back Fazli.

I think the Visit came at a crucial time and Bush needs popularity.
the secrecy reflects the security in Iraq.
I think he is still wondering where the flowers Rumsfield once promised are?
I am just being sarcastic as you may have picked up.

Good start for the election campaign. good to left the morales of the soldiers under attack.

The powerful leader of history's most powerful nation goes to a country of (quote) "band of thugs assasins" (unquote) with his plane landing without lights and returning from the airport mess visiting 600 out of 130,000 troops within 2 hours and 32 minutes. BIG COURAGE.

Sure thats a BIG morale booster for the troops who didnt even know he was there.

He went like a thief and came back like one. The world doesnt need people like him.

I don't see the brave and mighty OBL flying into the US. And where is the ARabs' great hope, Saddam, hiding these days? Exaaaactly!

I don't see the brave and mighty OBL flying into the US

He sent his deputies to do the job on the towers.

Sorry, not a good enuf reply.

SisterRosenberg
30th November 2003, 06:46 AM
Well then how come he's not standing up in Iraq right now, leading the thugs and thieves? How come he has spent the last 2 years in hiding?

Sorry, valid reply.

copdot
30th November 2003, 07:03 AM
Coz he is not the prez of the world most powerful country. He does not have a defence budget of 400 Billion dollars . He does not have 130,000 of his own and 30,000 of coalition troops with him.

Still he manages to scare the $hit out of the mighty US of A.

Sorry try again.

SisterRosenberg

No, but he has all of might Islam behind him yet he won't come out and "play". Where I come from, that's called being a gutless phussy.

And how is your 'Stud' important, to serve turkey??

SisterRosenberg
30th November 2003, 06:00 PM
He's important because he's chasing the radical islamic vermin around the globe and doing his best to exterminate them. You should appreciate this because once they are all killed, you will have your "peaceful and tolerant" religion back. It will no longer be hijacked by a band of ignorant fools that enjoy killing inncocent people in the name of Allah.

Come on! He's doing you a favor. You're to weak and puny to stand up for yourself, so Bush is going to do it for you.

Goodnight........ and God Bless Bush and all of the poor, suffering people of the Middle East.

Cheers!

OBL will come out if GB will face him one-to-one. Not sending down mother-of-all-bombs from 30,000 feet in the sky. With Klashnikov or without.

Bush came like a RAT and went like a sucked out lemon.

What a victor. To come hiding to the country he is supposed to have conquered. Bush is a COLD TURKEY.

Remember the welcome given to Allied troops in Paris!!! That's some victory.

Come next election, Bush will have exhausted all his lies and vote-rigging and go hide in his father's coat-tails!!!

What a sorry-looking chap!!!

The only friend left is Blair, a poodle personified.

Killing people in the name of Allah!!!

Strange coming from Hitler's blood-sister and of Bush and of Sharon, who have killed thousands from a safe distance and using mega-bombs, vaporised innocent Afghans and Iraqis to shreds. Shame that Bush is killing in the name of Jesus Christ ( May peace be upon him), who is adored by all Muslims.

Are the Americans so much out of choice that one cheap gimmick by dubya and they say that there should be more like him. This is ridiculous.

But I doubt if this really is the sentiment of the majority of the Americans as the news channels report emails from the people asking if it was worth it to spend so much of tax payers money on an election gimmick like this.

And all SR and others of her like please do us a favour by not comparing dubya with OBL. Whatever he did, OBL never indulges in cheap gimmicks.

Sister, going back to your original comment lauding Bush for his "historic" visit to Iraq. You have the right to praise his "heroic" act. But the fact of the matter is straight and simple: the aggression forces in Iraq are facing an uphill task bringing order to a country that they disordered. The glaring fact that Bush had to go for morale boosting means that the morale is down. Isn't it clear to the world? And the fact that he had to go in secretly and limit himself to the safe confines of the Baghdad Airport shows how safe Iraq is for the aggressors. The fact that it was a hush-hush affair demonstrates how much confidence the "most powerful person" in the world has. It does not attract the praise that you so lavishly heap upon him. It deserves scorn. And that is what we are giving. Accept our viewpoint as we accept your right to have yours.

Going back to your original comment on this fabulous man, Sister you certainly have the right to laud his 'historic' visit to Iraq. Now look at the facts:

That Bush had to go for morale-boosting shows that the morale of the aggressor troops is dismally low

That the aggressors face an uphill task in trying to bring order to a country which they disordered so unthinkingly

That Bush had to go secretly and confine himself to the safe environs of the Baghdad airport shows how safe Iraq is for the aggressors

That Bush was unwelcome in Iraq as are all the aggressors

That it had to be such a hush-hush affair shows how confident Bush is

That it was a cowardly act; as cowardly as the suicide bombings are. (But at least the suicide bombers have a short-term reason for doing what they do.)

Now please accept our viewpoint to lambast Bush as we accept your right to praise him.

Bush, like almost EVERY wartime american president took his DUTIES seriously and skipped his family's thanksgiving to be in great security (like every other wartime prez) with the men and women who serve ME and MY FAMILY and you get this:

as cowardly as the suicide bombings are

Iqbal...quit your job and come here to work for the new york times...they will love you. You wouldn't be related to Georgie Orwell by any chance?

Bush's 'Forward Strategy': Democracy and Paradox

http://www.iviews.com/Articles/articles.asp?ref=IV0311-2153

Bush's call for democracy remains a smokescreen, whose ultimate intent is the perusal of the same detrimental, self absolved neo conservative doctrine, bent on domination using deceit and ever changing pretexts.

"Of course, (Arabs) want freedom," wrote Patrick Seale, a veteran Middle East analyst in the Lebanese Daily Star, responding to Bush's democracy cry, "but the main freedom they seek is freedom from the United States."

The paradox is overpowering.
