This is a very common phenomenon in Oman, after getting the red light to be an Omani people would still look down at you and wonder why do they have to be equal with us, getting the jobs we get treated the way we are treated? Why whats the big issue? It would have been even better if you treated all of them alike, but some omanis tend to be more harsh on those who gained the passport and they are actually Arabs then those Indians, they think they are more of a threat to them.

Comments anyone?

I'd call it ignorance and insecurity. The most beautiful thing in this world is cultural diversity, but of course it also has it's disadvantages when cultural clashes are produced. It is a well known fact that groups with diverse cultures exhibit more cooperative behavior than groups of people from individualistic cultural traditions.

Why cant ppl just break the ice and take a chill pill?

the tone in your letter suggests that you yourself hold the view that Indians with Omani passport are somehow lower in stature to Arabs with Omani passport.

With such a viewpoint, I think it should not be hard to understand similar ideas.....

With a tone of your note it sounds that you yourself calls them Indians with Omani passport and NOT Arabs! To me they are Indians with Omani passport and NOT pure Omanis, but with equal rights to Omanis.

Again, I will have to agree with Rugombo. One thing I know for sure though is that whether they're Indians, Jordanians, Egyptians or whatever, when they get the nationality, they get treated equally and somehow they know how to benefit from their rights better than we do!

Invib, i recon that, but i was wondering why are the Pure Omanis bitter about it?

I cant answer that question because I dont have a problem with those who got the passport. It's not easy to get the citizenship unless the person has served the country in a very positive way. That's a fact. The others need to get over their bitterness.

The reason for that is probably because hindu Indian misused the Omani passports given to them, they misappropriated huge amounts of government money, created black money thru nefarious trade practices, collected funds to support fund communal riots in India and have overall proved themselves to be unworthy of Omani citizenship. Once bitten twice shy, the Omani govt. is now careful giving away passports to all outsiders. You want to blame someone for this, Blame the Indians.

ofcourse they are indians with Omani passport just like an Omani with a american passport. but they both still remain what they are. but they have the same rights as any normal omani.

They are totally difference when it comes to TAX[/color], The Indian Omani does not pay tax, while the Omani American pays tax.

No one can take away your nationality except the president of the country. So ignore those who envy you be proud that you got the nationality in a legal way.
