I guess the whole country is talking about this today.
A Royal Decree yesterday appointed Aisha Al Siyabi president of the newly created Public Authority for Craft Industries with the rank of a minister. The organisation will be supervised by the Diwan of Royal Court.
She is a 30 year old teacher from Sumail. She graduated from SQU in 1995 with a degree in Education specializing in in Art and has been working as an art teacher in Sumail for 7 years before being promoted to a supervisor in the present academic year.
Amazing story, ha?

Damn, 30 years old. Mashallah, she must be very good to be promoted to that position. And I thought only PHD holders get Ministry rank. That means I still have a chance <img src="/threads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />. I WISH

Anyhow, it's not easy being a female minister so inshallah she faces up with the challenges successfuly. Dear me! Let's not give her the evil eye!

Case you dont know the lady's Father is Khalfan bin Jmayel Alsiabi.
To many the name means nothing but to omans Heritage and history he is one of the greatest.
infact I should refer to him as "Al Allamh"
next
why from Smayel
well Did you expect that the president of Public Authority for Craft Industries. would be from Muscat?
how much do ppl from muscat actually know about crafts?
The sultan was recently in Samayel.
From what I see she seems qualified.
she comes from a very famous house.
she is an SQU graduate.
and its her field.
she is young?
you cant hold that against her can you.
This is a great step for oman .. May Allah help and guide her.
dont prejudge her B4 u see the fruits of her work.
wish her all the best.
This is great news. First it was the womens protests that shocked the country and now this. Amazing. Really amazing. Feminism in Oman is on the rise huh?
Does anyone know if women in other GCC countries hold such positions?

If Im not mistaken, no woman in other GCC countries holds an equivalent position of a minister.
Thumbs up to this Omani lady who has been honored this position.
