Hi all Oman people. My spouse and me will came to your wonderful country next august. In other international forum I've heard that it could be very very hot in summer. Too hot to swim in the see. Is it so? We'll walk only in shopping malls?? Thank you for your suggestions.
Fabrizio

Have you ever tried to live in a bakery..? Thats how it feels if not even hotter. By the time you get out of your car, walk from the parking lot and get into the mall you will be drenched in your own . If you are sensitive to heat, its not a good idea to visit in august. Come December Oman becomes a wonderful place.

well.. you were really 'practical'... here in Rome summer could be hot (33°-34°) and humid, but I imagine there in Oman is worst... even if we are not so sensitive to heat.

The problem is that our only time to travel is august (in Italy everyone go on vacation in august..) so we are forced to visit Oman in summer..

Fortunately prices for hotels are lower!

Welcome to omanforum! The Ministry of Information Website provides very important information about Oman and I think you will find there many usuful details about Oman, its government, culture, tourism, commerce, history, sports, etc. Also make sure you check the 'useful info' section which provides info about hotels, car rental, etc. Hope this helps.

Don't worry too much about the weather, if Muscat temperature is too hot, you can always visit the south of Oman, the Dhofar region during the Khareef season (monsoon season)...

Here is Oman's MOI link: http://www.omanet.com/english/home.asp#

You are most welcome any time Oman is a wonderful Country. Yes, In August it can be very hot but not as Mujahid mentioned. There are a lot of people who actually work outside during the heat and people who are not from Oman originally.

You can swim in the sea without really facing a lot of trouble. All the hotels in Oman are Air-conditioned and when you drive you can use air-condition and wherever you go you will find air conditioners.

If you take a taxi you can also ask the taxi driver to switch on his A/C.

Welcome and good luck on your stay in Oman and tell us about it when you go back home.
R.
