    Question Apartment Rental in Oman

    Hi,

In US (Washington) the rental for 1 bedroom apartment is USD$700 to USD$1100 per month and contractor salaries vary between $7000 to $10,000 per month.

If we move to Oman on permenant job/salary like 1950 OMR per month is it possible to get 1 bedroom apartment for rent in muscat equivalent in 322 or 350 RO per month?

    1 OMR= 2.8 USD$(suppose)

    322 OMR = 900 USD$

    Please suggest and comment??

    Thanks

darenatto - yes. But I would NEVER leave a job paying $10k a month in the states to come work in Oman for $5k a month. Even with taxes at a blended rate of 33%, I would be making more money and living in a better developed country. Even though the only place I think I'd ever like to live in the states is Manhattan...

You can find a 1 bedroom place, unfurnished, for around 400. But they are rare. more likely to find a 2 bedroom. Budget 600 OMR for a place to live in a decentish neighborhood. If you want to live in Ruwi or Wadi Adai - rents int he region of 350 are available, but they are not the nicest places to live, but there are always exceptions.

    Hi,

Many of my collegues who went to US on employment visa says if your contract is terminated or finished in US they present 10 days notice. Now in 10 days you have to packup completely from the country or look for a new visa sponsor/job.If you have wife and kids (in school) what will you do?

Even with $10K Stability is the biggest issue in US plus when you know that you have to leave the country anytime you cannot maintain quality of life for your family.

In reality, Even people making $10K-$12K in US mostly sleep on floor on a mattress to save money because they dont know when they can be asked to leave the country (Uncertainity). They cannot buy big 4WD cars because if they are asked to leave can they sell it within 10 days in suitable money?

    Thanks,

I don't know about Ruiw, but I know this one, with 400RO, small, small, small change you will get 2 BR apartment in area spread from Azaiba to Qurum, it will include Al Khuwair, Al Ghubra, MSQ, Al Ilam...

Is there a security deposit at the beginning of rent (like e.g. in the USA)?

    Thanks

    Default Looking for an apartment

    Hello

Does anyone know where I should be looking to find a one/two bedroom apartment, preferably in MQ? I've been trying Hamptons, Cluttons and Gulf Property World but there doesn't seem to be much available. I was hoping there might be a classifieds site to search, but so far I've had no luck finding one.

    Many thanks

I've found Hamptons and Cluttons to be a little too high-end and unresponsive (maybe our budget was too low). You might want to look at Hilal, they were highly recommended by a friend but would also deal in the same price range of property as Hamptons etc; the most responsive have been Oman Homes and New Foundation, personally I would recommend Oman Homes as their staff listen to what you want and then recommend relevant properties. We are likely to rent a property from Oman Homes.

Please PM me if you need contact details.

Not likely. A one bedroom flat got rented at 425 in the area between Centrepoint and the Hi FM station in Al Khuwair / MQ.

darenatto: I stay in a 1BR penthouse for RO 360/- in Al Khuwair 33. The building is 1 year old. I am sure you should be able to find apts for around the same cost in Al Khuwair, Ruwi, MQ etc...

I think it depends a lot on when your flat got rented. Prices seem to have been lower even 2, 3 months back compared to now. We viewed one furnished 1 BR penthouse in Al Khuwair 33 2 weeks ago; they were asking for RO 590.
