    Question Day Care Centre

    Hi All !

I was wondering whether there are any day care centers in Muscat (preferably around Ghubrah) where they can take care of infants during day time, 5 days a week.

Does anybody know of such a facility? Would be of great help.

I find it absolutely incredible that someone would pay the exact same fees for a nursery as sending their kid to private school. Incredible! Look at the fees for transport. Are you flipping kidding me? For five days it would run RO2220 a year (did I do the math right?) with transportation.

For fees like that, I wish someone would open up a real daycare, with a building that was built to be a daycare and not a fancy villa mansion wanna be.

    Sorry for the rant.

sounds like a reasonable comment. Where did you find the fee? The link FEE is not working at the website

joesensei - you need to click on the nursery link and then the "fees" on the right hand side.

for 5 mornings a week 500 OMR per term + 240 OMR per term transport, 3 terms per year

so yup 2200 OMR per year including transport

transport is "People carriers fitted with child safety seats, driven by teaching staff with defensive driver training experience" - that doesnt come cheap - remember a driver can cost up to 100 OMR per month (not per term!) and there is no guarantee of car quality or child safety seats.

personally I think it is reasonable fees - you dont want loads of children per teacher, teachers need to be paid well if they perform well, and you want a location with lots of interactive toys that is well maintained.

either that - or get a full time maid :-)

I so get you on the safety part. I've never heard of transport costing RO100 per month, though.

My advice to anyone putting their child into a daycare here would be to pop in unannounced quite often and monitor just who is watching their child. Look into just how hygienic the place is and how closely the children are being monitored.
